I really don't have any words for this wedding so I will let the photographs tell the story.
Read MoreRain or snow definitely don't step a wedding day. This wedding from 2016 took place at first in Vancouver and then later on in Grouse Mountain.
What a day it was! Blistering snow made for an interesting and adventurous day but it ended up being an amazing wedding for Brian and Alaina.
Thanks to John Bello as we always for taking me on a second shooter!
Read MoreI really enjoy photographing at Brix and Mortar and around the Yaletown area. So when John Bello called me up to be his second shooter, I was very much inclined to join the party.
Regardless of whether I'm a primary photographer or second photographer, I always go into a wedding with the same determination to create true and authentic moments and beautiful photographs that the couple will remember.
Thanks again to John Bello for giving me the opportunity to second shoot!
Read MoreI recall the feeling of slight panic when I realized that my tires were starting to slip and weren't gaining traction. My little Honda Fit didn't really have the tires (or suspension) to be able to dig through a good 3 feet of fresh snow that had dropped on Delta and the rest of the Lower Mainland. This all happened as I was making my way to photograph as a secondary for John Bello for the big event: Kim and Jeremy's wedding. Thankfully, and also partly by some miracle, I was able to rock my car back and forth and find some grip and ever so slowly make my way up the slippery and buried-in-snow slight incline to Jeremy's house.
Read MoreIt's funny how sometime time repeats itself. It was only 6 years ago when my wife and I were married in Burnaby Alliance Church and had our reception at Westwood Plateau golf course. I was pretty stoked to get to document Stanley and Jen's wedding but even more so when I realized they'd be getting married in the same places we did! In some ways, I got to re-live the experience of my own wedding day through them.
Read MoreI've been to a number of weddings at Westwood Plateau. In fact, even my own wedding and my brother's wedding has been there. I love the venue and I love the food there. It's a great little hidden gem in Coquitlam.
Last year, Jody Nay asked me to second shoot for her. While it did take place at Westwood Plateau, it was the camaderie of friends and the closeness of family that made this wedding amazing.
Read MoreThis wedding involved nerf guns. Yup.
Right after the first look and a few formal photographs, the bride and groom pulled out some nerf guns and started pelting each other and the groomsmen and bridesmaids with soft and harmless foam projectiles (yet another hazard wedding photographers have to watch out for on a wedding day. Hah! I kid!.... It's green goop and shaving cream).
All images taken while on seconding assignment for Jody Wiger Photography.
I remember driving up to this farm in Maple Ridge and seeing sheep. Being a "city-slicker" this excited me greatly. I don't see sheep very often. Maybe a cat?
There's not much I can really say in words about this wedding that my photos won't mention but perhaps I can give you a brief outline: I met Kevin and his groomsmen and photographed them getting ready in a little house on this farm in Maple Ridge. Jody Nay and I photographed the first look of Kevin seeing Lindsay as his bride-to-be and it was an amazing moment followed by champagne and walking out into the farm field.
Read MoreAs my first post for 2017... I'll post something from 2016. It's been really busy here at Jonathan Desmond Photography but as I've been catching up and looking at some of the photographs taken over the course of the last 365 days, I'm seeing some great stories pop up that I'd love to share with you. Here's one of them!
All photographs taken while seconding Assignment with Todd Duncan Weddings.
Instead of just showing beautiful photos, I wanted to talk about some of the stories behind my documentary photographs that really struck a chord with me this year. Some photographs were fantastic little moments that were tiny, “in-between” parts of a wedding day. Others were great big moments involving green goop…
